Technical Specification & Mathematical Principles

The image is sampled into 4-bit per channel bins: bin = (R >> 4, G >> 4, B >> 4), yielding 4,096 discrete 3D spatial buckets.

The bucket with the highest accumulated frequency represents the peak dominant mode. The final color is calculated as the centroid average: (ΣR / N, ΣG / N, ΣB / N) within the peak bucket.

Frequently Asked Questions

The algorithm discretizes the 24-bit sRGB color space into 4,096 volumetric color bins (16×16×16 per channel). Every pixel is assigned to its corresponding spatial bin, and the bin with the highest frequency density determines the true optical dominant color, averaging internal pixel coordinates for sub-bin precision.
