GamutDesk
Industrial Color Utility Platform

Engineered for Mathematical Precision & Absolute Privacy

GamutDesk is an open-access platform of 50 client-side instruments designed for frontend developers, design system engineers, and accessibility specialists who require instantaneous, scientifically rigorous color computations.

The Core Engineering Standard

100% Client-Side Engine

Every formula, matrix transformation, and image pixel extraction runs natively on your machine’s hardware. No servers, no network delays, and no cloud dependencies.

Zero Data Collection

Your uploaded images and proprietary color tokens are never transmitted across the network or stored in external databases. Complete confidentiality guaranteed.

Zero Cumulative Layout Shift

All UI components, canvas slots, and ad placements feature reserved bounding dimensions to ensure rock-solid 0.00 CLS stability on every interaction.

Color Science & Mathematical Specifications

1. OKLab & OKLCH Perceptual Spaces (Björn Ottosson, 2020)

Unlike legacy HSL where lightness fluctuates wildly across hues (yellow appearing far brighter than navy blue at L=50%), OKLCH provides true perceptual uniformity. Lightness, Chroma, and Hue reflect how human photoreceptor cones actually perceive radiance.

2. Color Difference: CIE76 and CIEDE2000 (ΔE₀₀)

For color matching against Pantone PMS libraries and named color catalogs, we implement the complete CIEDE2000 formulation with rotation terms and weighting functions for lightness, chroma, and hue differences.

3. Contrast Calculations: W3C WCAG 2.1 & APCA (WCAG 3.0)

We provide standard WCAG 2.1 relative luminance ratios (L₁ + 0.05) / (L₂ + 0.05) as well as the Accessible Perceptual Contrast Algorithm (APCA), which models spatial frequency, font weight, and polarity (dark-on-light vs light-on-dark).

4. Machado et al. (2009) Deficiency Modeling

Our color blindness simulator utilizes physiologically-derived 3×3 spectral transformation matrices to simulate anomalous trichromacy and dichromacy (Protanopia, Deuteranopia, Tritanopia, and monochromatic Achromatopsia).
